If you're like me and have a single nozzle, non-AMS/MMU, but still want color changes, I use this in my Post Processing Script; I'll also post a screenshot:

{REPLACE "; layer" "M117 Layer"}; show layer number and Z height on LCD

{REPLACE " Z = " " Z="}; make room on LCD for text

{REPLACE "\nM117 Layer 31, Z=" "\nG1 X10 Y5\nM300 S1000 P1000\nM0\nM117 Layer 31, Z="}

I tried an experiment and didn't like the results. At the Color Change, I also reduced the Layer Height to 0.1mm for “finer details…” Using a 0.4mm Nozzle produced cleaner text at 0.2mm rather than 0.1mm and I'm good with that.
