Description
I have remixed Gary Fliegel's light mount to fit a common 24v LED strip.
Update 06/04/2023: I have added an 8cm wider version for the SV06 Plus :)
Dimensions of the LED strip: 8mm width, 2mm height, 50mm per section and it fits 18 sections.
I used this strip: https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B0BL3HBGB3
Printed in blue PETG on Sovol SV06 with .2mm layer height, Supports on but buildplate only and 25% infill (you could experiment with this). Optionally check out the last picture.
Except for the clamps, which I have modified to accommodate for slightly bigger cables, I have designed the mount from scratch, it is 2mm wider than the original and requires two M3 bolts. Make sure you don't over tighten the bolt as they will eventually break the clamps, the light mount should even hang alright without the bolts.
This mount accommodates for a more common LED strip, which you can get in 24V which is the voltage of the stock PSU of the printer, therefore you'll just need the LED strip and some wiring.
Make sure your LED's are rated for 24V and before you begin make sure the printer is turned off, and both the input (110/220v) cable and output (24V) cable are unplugged.
Next take the PSU out of it's plastic shoe by taking out the four bolts holding it in place (do NOT open the PSU itsself, shock hazard, just take it out of the mount).
It will have 4 free terminals (2+ and 2-). If you wire the LED's up to the PSU they will turn on and off with your printer. It's advised to crimp two Fork/Spade wire connectors on the cables that you screw onto the terminal (but you can do without if you must).
