Description
This model is now obsolete. You can find much improved/updated versions; The “Universal Version” (which fits the MK3/S/+, MK3.5, MK3.9 & MK4 printers) as well as the “MK4 Only” version here: Original Prusa Enclosure Precision Fit Multicolor Mesh Side Boxes (for MK3/S/+, MK3.5, MK3.9 & MK4 - MMU Not Required).
Model Info:
NOTE: This model does not fit the MK4.
I recreated the awesome mesh side boxes by dotson90 from scratch to specifically fit the MK3S+ when placed within the Original Prusa Enclosure. The connection points between the extrusions and the boxes were eliminated. The box sizes were extended back to the frame and widened to fit the width of the printer.
To install simply push the printer back a bit, put the boxes in place and then pull the printer toward the front of the enclosure to the dampers as usual. The boxes will fit snugly between the printer frame and the dampers.
I specifically made the walls of the boxes thinner (about 3mm) than the original boxes since they didn't need the extra structure to attach to the printer itself. This does make the boxes a bit flexible, but still strong with PETG. If someone wants a thicker version, I'd be happy to mix one up.
I've included three gcode files; one with both boxes and one each for the left and right boxes separately, if you don't want to do one long print. I printed mine with Prusament PETG at a .20mm (quality) and ironing on the topmost layer. This does make for a long print (especially if you print both at the same time), so I've included the 3mf files so you can reslice for your specific filament and print settings.
Note: This model was designed to be sliced in PrusaSlicer. YMMV using other slicer software.
