Naked Iris Compass (Easier Assembly!)

Edit: Added v4 lid which now has nubs for easier turning, as a few have suggested. I didn't see any remixes yet so I added this one myself :)

I noticed that the original model had a tendency to come undone and you can't really see what's going on in there. I wanna know!

So, I made a new top cover that is now split into the slotted cam and the outer locking ring. This way, you move the inner ring instead of the outer ring to open/close it. Place the chamfered end down or it won't fit.

Also, regular use will no longer cause the lid to pop off (unless you store it very tightly at its widest position, so I recommend you keep the aperture closed when not in use.

I also increased the length of the pins on the leaves to make it extra sturdy and make sure they WON'T fall out. I also just like to watch them dance around as I open it.

Let me know if you want any other modifications, as I am happy to make them.

Note: Use the bottom shell with the pins from the original model (called outer shell, not included here), as I only altered the top cover and the leaves.

Another perk of this model is that it doesn't require the jig to assemble or fiddle with making the gap small and round. Just keep the leaves flat after popping them in the bottom case align the pins with the slots in the inner lid disc. Then you can just put the top on, no fuss required!
