Description
I designed a holder for a Papermate Inkjoy pen as they are my partner's preferred pen and we use them to write things on the calendar on our fridge. I dislike rummaging through the utensil drawer next to the fridge to find the pen, so I designed a holder that will stick to the fridge. I left enough space inside for the pen tip to be able to be left in the extended position, just in case someone forgets to retract it before storing it.
I used a pair of 6x2mm neodymium magnets that I had ordered in bulk for Gridfinity bases. The OpenSCAD model is parameterized so that the magnet size can be changed if you have another size on hand. Initially, I just pressure fit the magnets into the holder but I've found they really should be superglued in place for long term use. The model could also be adapted for a different size pen if you're not a fan of the Inkjoys.
I also designed a dual pen version which can be found here.
The model in the photos was printed in EurekaTec PLA Cyan with 0.2mm layers, with supports and a brim since there isn't a lot of contact with the base plate. Printing with the hole down leaves a nice finish on the visible parts and the only places that should have supports are the magnet holes. The center is a very short bridge that should be doable on most printers so it shouldn't need a support.
