RC Heli Blade V2 mCPx Landing gear

I like flying the Blade mCPx V2 indoors or in a calm day in my back yard when I do not want to drive to an RC field to fly the larger RC helis!

It is very, very tough and can take crashes without any damage except the landing gear/battery holder part.

Therefore, I designed a replacement landing gear/battery holder with the following modifications.

• FDM printable.
• As light as design/material allows.
• Accommodate larger LiPo batteries.
• Bring the heli CG closer to the ground.

I used 1.5 mm carbon rods for the landing gear's legs and re-designed the battery tray to accommodate a larger LiPo battery (1S1P 520 mAh, 80c) which is longer from the standard Eflite 200 mAh LiPo.

The “new” landing gear is about 0.9 gr heavier but with the higher voltage battery I did not notice any performance issues.

Parts used:

• 1.5mm Carbon Fiber Bar
• Cyanoacrylate (CA) Super Glue
• 520mAh 1S LiPo Battery 80C 3.8V HV LiHv Battery JST-PH 2.0 mCPX Connector.
• SUNLU Filament PLA+ 1.75mm ORANGE

Instructions

• The main body that holds the battery can be printed without supports but I chose to use organic supports for the battery loops only. The skids do not need supports.

• Parts are pre-sliced for the PRUSA MK3S+.
• Using a Dremel with a cutting wheel, cut 2x 24 mm rods for the front legs and 2x 23 mm rods for the back legs.
• If the holes where the legs are inserted are too tight, use a very small drill bit and clean them.
• Put a tiny drop of CA glue and place the cut rods in in the frame and skids.
• Finally, use the 2 M2 x 10 mm cap screws and connect the landing gear to the main heli body.
