Description

This model was inspired by mathcraft's Tulips on Thingiverse. This was one of my favorite models that I made years ago on my old printer. We are (maybe) coming out of winter here and don't have any color on the ground. I wanted to make a fresh batch of flowers like those to add some color to our yard.

The main improvement that I wanted to make to the original design was to combat the water collection issue that I experienced. Rainwater tended to pool up in the middle of the flower. I wanted to negate that by adding the indents between the petals on each side. I also added a slight pitch to the tops of the surfaces, so the water should always have a path to fall off.

I also made two additional variations. From smallest to largest, it hopefully looks like the stages of a flower blooming. They all attach to the same stem. The stem is meant to fit snugly, so you should not need any glue to hold the head of the flower (but you can choose to use it). I made it this way so that I have the option to take the flower head off and replace any design that I make in the future. This way I am not constrained to tulips in the middle of October, when they would be long out of season.

Since we kept getting snowfall and snowfall, and I was unable to put them outside for a while after having them done. I put a few of the flowers into a diamond vase I previously made. My family really enjoyed them as an inside decoration too.
