Description

This is my Remix of the excellent 3D Benchy Dry Dock by Bugman_140.

Having printed a few of his originals I wanted a way to “spice it up” a bit and as the same time make it easier for single extruder printers to add multi-colour without an MMU or the like.

I started by splitting the original barrel out from the stand to make a blank stand that can easily be 2 colour printed. Then I recreated the barrel with a few tweaks to make for easier more visible colour swaps.

After that I made some additional decorations so there are now the below:

  • Wooden Barrel
  • Toolbox
  • Oil Drum
  • Easter Egg
  • Pumpkin
  • Snowman

All of the decorations have a 4mm diameter x 2mm deep hole for either an 4mm diamater x 4mm tall “pin” (stl included) or If like me you like magnets and want the ability to quickly “hot-swap” the accessories you can place a 4mm diameter x 2mm thick magnet into both the base and the accessory.

If you use magnets you may need a tiny dab of glue to make sure they stay put and also check that the magnets are the correct way around before gluing! :)

The Snowman has holes in the head that should just fit 1.75mm filament that you can then flush cut to make eyes and leave a little extra on the nose! the hat prints separately and you'll need to glue that on.

You can also easily make your own accessories just make sure to add the 4mmx2mm hole!

FYI I used 4.1mmx2.2mm for the hole if the hole has bridging or if you could print “top side down” you could probably go with 4.1mmx2mm

Printing Tips

The accessories are very small parts, I reccomend using a 5mm brim to avoid printing mishaps, also if you want to save time (and amount of colour swaps) and want several of a particular item, print them at the same time!
