Mazda 2/Demio DE Phone Mount

I'm not comfortable mounting a suction phone mount on windshield, as I have a tint and could delaminate it, and on dashboard as it would leave marks. Not a fan mounting on AC vents as cold air would degrade battery performance on phones. Brodit mounts would be preferable if not for the price and the unavailability in where I live.

DennisP made a mount for Magsafe that fits my needs, but since I do not have a Magsafe phone, I modified his mount to use 17mm ball mount holder instead.

I highly recommend to use a 17mm ball mount with a locking collar such as this as it would give greater tolerance.

I have created V1 and V2, V1 is pictured. I created V2 by adding fillets on the base of the shaft as V1 was bobbing around on uneven roads, though still holds fine, I haven't tested the v2 though. I made this for my RHD Mazda 2, if you want to use for LHD just mirror it.

Installing is similar to Brodit:

1. Add adhesive tape on the top base of the mount if needed, though I didn't and it held up fine. Open the glove compartment. Pull out the panel between the glove compartment and the control panel a few millimeter. Press the upper part of the mount into the gap under the dashboard overhang.
2. Press the lower part of the mount into the gap between the trim and the pulled out panel. Slide the mount all the way to the head unit until it stops.
3. Press forward on the mount so it is properly in place. Press the panel back into place. Close the glove compartment.

Please be aware of your material choosing and the climate where you live. Car interior temperature could reach twice of ambient temperature. See MyTechFun's video about this. UV resistance should also be considered.
