Description

These modifications / addons are for the do-it-yourself Rook MK1 printer.

Electronics Base

This base consists of two printed pieces (a main body and a rear cover) and features provisions for the following:

  • Stacked Raspberry Pi 4 and BigTreeTech SKR Pico controller
  • Mean Well UHP-200-24 Power Supply
  • 60mm 24v 6010 Fan
  • Panel Mount Ports for USB and Ethernet
  • Rocker Switch and Power Inlet

Extruder Mount and Wire Shield

This piece not only provides support for mounting a NEMA 17-driven extruder, but also a method of organizing and concealing wires at the top side of the printer.

Endstop Mount

This piece allows for the mounting of a Z-axis endstop equipped with a plug disconnect.

Z-Axis Endstop Pad

Remove that flimsy spring steel from your Z-axis endstop and use this solid contact pad instead.   The default STL file assumes 6mm between the base of your bed frame and the top surface of the switch body.   However the design is parametric.  STEP and Fusion 360 (F3D) files are included which will allow you to fine tune this design to your needs.

Panels

These are DXF files for cutting Polycarbonate or Acrylic side and base panels. They are specific for a Rook MK1 that was built with 350mm rods. If your rods are shorter or longer you will need to modify these files accordingly. You can use a service such as Send Cut Send to get clear Polycarbonate cut.

Post-Printing

Additional Items needed for Assembly

  • Assorted M2.5, M3, and M5 cap head and/or button head fasteners
  • M2.5, M3, and M5 threaded inserts
  • Hex keys/wrenches for inserting the fasteners
  • A soldering iron for heat setting the threaded inserts
