🇱🇧 اهلا بك في لبنان

Welcome to Lebanon!

This model was created by Dany Sánchez. This is available in two versions:

  • Actual state (ruins)
  • Hypothetical reconstruction (just this section, not the whole complex)

The Temple of Jupiter situated at the Baalbek complex in Heliopolis Syriaca (modern Lebanon) was the largest Roman temple in the world.

It is not known who commissioned or designed the temple, nor exactly when it was constructed. Work probably began around 16 BC and was nearly complete by about ad 60. It is situated on a broad platform of stone raised another 7 m (23 ft) above the huge stones of the foundation, three of which are among the heaviest blocks ever used in a construction.

It was the biggest temple dedicated to Jupiter in all the Roman empire. The columns are 30 meters high with a diameter of nearly 2.5 meters: the biggest in the classical world. It took three centuries to create the whole temple complex (from Wikipedia).

MiniWorld3D is excited to bring this historical model to life as a homage to all the people of Lebanon. This model was designed from scratch using photos and talent! Please give credit, it's all about spreading culture and education!
