The Baggage Claim Redux is everything you love about the original Baggage Claim, with (hopefully) nothing you hate about it! Here's a demo!
Improvements Galore
- The original pressure fit mechanism has been replaced with a far more streamlined pressure clip, which gently but firmly caresses your bags rather than tearing them up. Additionally, this means you can use a single, universal size; no longer must we be divided by the width of our bags.
- Pegs are out of fashion. They have been replaced with cones, modeled after the dunce cap I had to wear after putting pegs on the first model. They also happen to be much easier to print in high quality, and don't require supports either.
- Have you ever seen a picture of a real Rolodex? It doesn't face up. The old model did, so I fixed that. Now a ratcheting mechanism keeps the pivots from freely rotating while still allowing you to turn them, albeit in a single direction.
Compatibility
This model is compatible with any teabag that is less than 70mm wide and 90mm tall.
Printing Advice
Make sure you print everything with its features facing up. That means axles, thread holes, and pivot divots (yes I made sure to get that phrase in there) should be facing up.
Assembly
Putting this thing together isn't difficult, but there are some steps:
- Slide the first ratchet and stand onto the axle. Make sure the ratchet fits semi-loosely into the teeth on the stand.
- Slide the pivots onto the axle, making sure their pivot divots (there it is again) face each other. Everything is rotationally symmetric, so don't worry about the divots not lining up.
- Slide the other ratchet and stand on in the same orientation as before, then screw on the other knob.
- Push the two pivots to opposite ends of the axle, so that the ratchets and stands are flush between the pivots and knobs.
- Applying constant, even pressure to keep the pivots apart, insert the slots into each matching set of divots. You may have a bit of trouble keeping things from falling out at first, but start with 4 slots (one in each cardinal direction) and you should be good. Don't be afraid to kinda snap them together, things might be a bit tight but the cones are sturdy and won't break under this kind of pressure.
