💙🤍 Benvido a Galicia!
Welcome to Galicia!

This model was created by Dany Sánchez.

The Tower of Hercules is an ancient Roman lighthouse about 2.4 kilometers (1.5 mi) from the city of A Coruña, Galicia, in north-western Spain.  It is regarded as the oldest lighthouse still standing. It was built in the 2nd century under the reign of Roman emperor Trajan, and renovated much later in 1791, where the original Roman core was covered and heightened, obtaining its current appearance. The structure today is 55 meters (180 ft) tall and overlooks the North Atlantic coast of Spain.

The name comes from the many Ibero-celtic and Roman legends of the area, known as Finisterra, or “end of the world” by the ancients, because it was as farthest west one could go in continental Europe. Legend says that Hercules fought the giant Geryon here and built the tower over his remains.

It is a National Monument of Spain, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (from Wikipedia).
