HE400se Hexagonal Grill

Replacement grill for the Hifiman HE400se. 

Planar magnetic headphones such as this one are extremely sensitive to anything interfering at the backs of the drivers. The stock grill on this headphone is a very obstructing grill with a dust-blocking fabric annealed to it, and it seems to improve sonically with the grills off.

This model replaces the stock metal grill with a much less dense honeycomb pattern.

Although it may look and sound best without any kind of filter under the print, it is advisable to do so in order to prevent dust from getting inside the headphones. A simple cloth/fabric that is light and lets air through easily will do the job. I superglued it to the back of the print and cut around the circle. 

Installing is easy. The plastic ring around the grill is held in by four tabs. Just be careful not to break it when removing.. See this video:

Printed using PLA.

0,20mm with 0.4mm nozzle.

Model is tiny, so software will slice it without using infill.

No supports or brim needed. Flat side down.

Printing takes about 25 min per piece.
