Description

A divider frame/insert for Plano's Model 1312 Field Box/Ammo Can with up to three dividers to split the can in half, thirds, or quarters. Great for hauling multiple calibers to the range in one convenient container!

Note:

The design has been updated to include a lower frame (divider base) in addition to the upper frame (divider ring), which prevents the dividers from being warped/pushed around by the weight of the cartridges in each section. The upper divider frame remains unchanged, however the dividers did receive a small geometry change. Therefore, if you are updating your existing divider set to the new version, you will need to print the divider base and the updated version of the dividers. The divider base model is one half of the total lower frame; print two instances (x2) of this file to form the complete bottom frame.

Hardware Required for Assembly:

2x — M3x4mm socket head cap screw (if you do not have M3x4mm screws on hand, you can use up to a 10mm M3 screw, but you MUST use the “long screw” version of the upper divider frame for screws longer than 4mm! — The standard version has no holes to allow the screws to protrude beyond the inside wall of the frame).
2x — M3nS square nut.

Print Recommendations:

Print the upper frame (Divider Ring L & Divider Ring R) pieces with the flat (top) surface facing the print bed; chamfered side up.
Print two instances (x2) of the lower divider frame (Divider Base) with the L-shaped feet facing up; chamfered side down.
Print the divider on either of its sides (large area).
3 perimeters.
15-20% infill is sufficient for the frames, but I recommend printing the divider panels with solid infill (100%).
Print 1-3 dividers, determined by your use case/preference.
PLA is recommended over PETG for rigidity in the divider panels; other materials with decent rigidity should also work.

Assembly & Use:

Insert the two M3nS nuts into the slots in the front half of the upper frame (front frame piece has the large tab) and push them all the way down until they stop (use a tool if necessary).
Align the two halves of the upper frame and insert the M3x4mm screws from the outside.
Tighten the screws to secure the two upper frame halves together; do not over-tighten.
Align the dovetails on the bottom frame halves and slide them together. They should fit together fairly securely on their own, and while I don't recommend it, you're welcome to use a couple drops of superglue on each dovetail joint if you feel it necessary.
Drop the frames into the Plano Field Box; lower frame first, followed by the upper frame. The tab on the upper frame goes toward the front and should point down, which will mate with the recess at the front of the container.
Slide the divider(s) in from the top, making sure it aligns with the corresponding channel on either side of both the upper and lower frames; push it all the way down until it stops.
- Note: For dividing the box in half, use one divider in the center slot. For dividing the box in thirds, use two dividers in the inner slots, either side of center. For dividing the box into quarters, use three dividers, one in the center slot and two in the outer slots, either side of the center divider.
