Description
2.8 inches? Lets go for 50mm
This USB stick drive cover is designed to look like the 2.8 inches wide floppy drive. The USB is retractable after pulling the clip away. Most commercial USB stick drives use the same or very similar PCB design, so this print will probably accommodate whatever you have at home.
Printing instructions
My recommendations for all parts (it works pretty well with other values too):
PLA
0.2mm layer height
20% infill
Support is needed
The clip shoud be printed on its side, so that only the cutout needs support (see picture)
Assembly instructions
For now the cover only supports the USB stick PCB shown on the photos as that is the only one I have on hand, however I can provide CAD files or even create new 3d files on demand. Print the tray first to check if your USB fits.
Use hot glue to stick the PCB to the tray
The two main parts (top and bottom) may need some glue as well, but they should just clip in
The clip just clips on the assambled main part
The label needs glue to stick onto the bottom part
Clarification
The keen-eyed amongst you might have noticed that the drive in the pictures is basically inverted, as the real drives usually have the cutoff on the opposite side. A corrected model is uploaded for this exact reason but I'm running short of filament and don't want to reprint them. I will also upload the old, inverted one as it is the exact match for the one on the photos.
Update 03. 14.
Fixed the models in the “Corrected” section
