Description

This is a set of parts meant to print in rigid filament and a few in flexible filament. Then the parts are assembled using inserts and screws to form a cage for 4 external hard drives (3.5"), with a spot for a 120mm fan or a 140mm fan with an aditional plate.

Drives are on flexible cushions to absorb shocks and vibrations, and a spot is present for temperature probes on the bottom of the drives.

Print instructions

Most parts are printed in PLA, PETG, ABS or the material of your choice. A few are meant to be printed in flexible filaments. All prints are easily printed, flat on the bed, no supports or raft required.
I printed everything on a prusa I3 MK2.5S, but it should work on other printers. The prusa mini may be slightly too small for some parts, i'll add versions of the largest parts that can be printed in two pieces before assembling.

3MF and STLs are provided, the STL are from the 3MF files.

What to print

  • the base (1_base_panel) in PLA, one needed;
  • the separators (2_separators) in PLA, 5 needed;
  • the front and back panels (3_face_back_cables_out_fan120) in PLA, 2 needed;
  • the front and back cusions (4_face_back_gasket) in flexible, 2 needed (optional)
  • the base cushions (5A or 5b_base_cushion_short) in flexible with low infill (5-10%), 8 needed. 5A has no holes, and better cushioning, 5B has holes for screws;
  • If you add a 140mm fan, print the 140mm fan bracket (6_140mm_fan_front_face) in PLA, 1 needed (optional)

When i say PLA, you can use whatever rigid filament you want, provided it can accept M3 8*4mm brass threaded inserts.
If you can't use threaded inserts, then swap the screws from M3 to M4, and tap into the plastic directly.
