Tablet/Phone Cylinder Mount

This is a simple phone / tablet clip that attaches with a zip-tie to a cylindrical post. Print two of these for a complete set.

The included STLs are configured for mounting a recent-generation iPhone or iPad to a common modular shelf post (41mm diameter with a 7mm wide groove).

The OpenSCAD file is customizable to clip onto virtually any phone or tablet device, and for mounting to any cylindrical object of virtually any diameter.

Notes:

A wide variety of clips can be created by adjusting the parameters at the top of the OpenSCAD file. For example, the dimensions of the band, and the width, height, and wall-thickness of the clip part can be altered. Each parameter includes a short description.

If the clip and band are the same height, or if the clip is aligned to the edge of the band then no supports will probably be needed. The holes for the zip-ties might contract during printing. Carefully clean these out with an X-acto blade.

Post-Printing

Just add a zip tie to complete the part.

Place on the post and tighten the zip-tie so the clip stays in place but can also be moved.

How I Designed This

This is a very simple OpenSCAD design. The band is just a large cylinder with a wide cutout, then two additional cylinders with cubes cut out are added for the zip-tie mounts. The clip part is just a rounded cube with another rounded cube cut out of it.

The code is designed so that the part can be adjusted in a variety of ways.
