Wingspan Bird Feeder Dice Tower (Laser Cut)

This is a wooden replacement bird feeder (dice tower) for the Wingspan board game. The tower and lifts off of and lays inside the dice tray for storage.

There are 2 versions, one without the logo (pictured) and one with a more detailed logo.

Equipment & Supplies

• Glowforge Plus
• ⅛ in MDF from GS2 Awards
• Transfer tape for masking MDF
• Wood glue

Modifications

Compared to sgreasby on Thingiverse, I made the following adjustments using Inkscape.

• Recolored lines and roof images for easier engraving on Glowforge
• Removed clips on roof images, cropped, and re-inserted cropped images (Glowforge doesn't support clipping in svg)
• Increased the tolerance on the joints since pieces were originally too tight a fit using my laser
• Replaced the logo with a more detailed one, though I ended up liking it better without the logo at all
• Split the side walls of the tray to add a gap for the tower roof so the tower could lay inside the tray
• Extended the length and width of the tray a few mm to better fit the tower (upright and laying down)
• Increased the height of the opening from the tower into the tray (dice were getting stuck sometimes)

• Material preset: “Medium Draftboard” 
• Roof panels: “3D Engrave”
• Blue lines: “HD Graphic” engrave
• Cut lines: Changed “Proofgrade Cut” from 168/Full to custom 155/Full
