Car Visor Hand Sanitizer Holder

Ok so, I keep forgetting to use the hand sanitizer I leave in the car so I thought Id do something to attach it to the visor (and then decided to over complicate it). It uses a 8mm x 3mm magnet and a M5 nut as hardware in addition to a small spring that is 6mm diameter, 2.7mm compressed and 10mm uncompressed.

To extend the ratchet you have to push in the button but to tighten/close it you can just push it closed. That is just due to the way I made the ratchet work that it is one way. I also made an adjustment to the carriage that isn't in the picture but will be changing mine to.

There is definitely room for improvement (switch the nut for another magnet, making a more universal carriage, changing the spring to something that can be printed) but hopefully this gives you some ideas

UPDATE - Probably goes without saying depending where you are it can get hot in cars if left in the sun. I am in Australia and I torture tested this and it was the hook that is nearest to the windscreen that bent before anything else. If you do take this as inspiration for your own you may want to consider making simple parts like I have done here so you can cast it in resin if you need to.

Notes:

I mostly use PLA so I used that, if you were interested in redesigning the thing I would suggest maybe changing the ratchet switch to something that would let you print a flex/spring part into it so you dont need an actual spring
