Description

In terms of size, I shaped the ball end based on my hand - usually wear a size large glove, if that helps. I also kept the overall height just tall enough to cover the threads when screwed down - never quite liked how gaudy and huge the factory knob was.

Pictured example was made with CF-PLA - strongly encourage a higher temperature filament such as Nylon, ABS or ASA. Will be reprinting mine for personal use, just wanted to verify fitment.

Print standing up, and support the first face of the threaded portion in the knob.

Update - 3/23/23 - I wasn't totally happy with my tapered bore fitment. It fit, but just didn't get as tight as I would have liked. I've updated and added files for models with the proper thread in them. As a result, you'll need to print this in finer detail for proper threads. Or at least I did; 0.20mm didn't produce the definition on the threading I wanted and had to print at 0.10mm for a near ‘machine cut’ fitment of the thread. Also added another design to the files.

Update - 3/29/23 - New files added - I had some trouble printing in ABS, mostly in the size of the area I had on the build plate. I also found I would get a better resulting print from printing with the top up. I remove the chamfered area from the base of the knobs to give a better area for the print to stick to the build plate, without having to use a brim.

Update - 3/30/23 - I've removed the original ‘tapered’ bore shift knobs. They're inferior enough that I don't feel anyone needs to be using them. Added an ‘Ergo’ shift knob, similar to BMW electronically shifted gearbox knobs, your hand rests somewhat naturally on it, with your thumb laying fore to aft. While I've spent more time paying attention to the shift I found that hold to be the most comfortable while driving, but my current knob designs didn't quite conform to the hand too well when driving that way. Also added a modified sphere with friendlier overhangs, if you struggle with ABS like I do.
