Description

Introduction

This sword was created in Fusion 360 based off several different images of the original sword. Measurements were taken from descriptions of replica swords for sale online. The blade is approximately 8.5mm thick. The blade does have some flex to it just like a real sword. It can sustain some light swinging but is intended to be a visual prop.

I have printed and glued/screwed the sword together. I still need to sand and paint the sword.

Materials

  • PLA-CF filament or any filament you prefer
  • TPU 85A or similar for the outer handle/grip
  • CA glue
  • M2 x 12mm Screw X 6
  • M2 x 5mm Hex X 19
  • M3 x 30mm Hex X 3
  • M3 x 20mm Hex X 3
  • M3 x 16mm Hex X 5

Printing

The sword was printed using a Bambu Lab X1C with PLA-CF filament. The outer handle/grip was printed using TPU 85A (The handle/grip is not in the picture because it is difficult to get off and I need to finish sanding and painting).

The stl files should load into the slicer in the orientation that I used. Check the model file notes for details about supports and brims.

Building

  • The top and bottom guard pieces are screwed together.
    • M3 x 16mm Hex X 4
    • M3 x 30mm Hex X 2
    • M2 x 5mm Hex X 4
  • The handle bottom is then attached and screwed in to place.
    • M3 x 20mm Hex X 3
    • M2 x 12mm Screw X 6
  • The handle top ring is then slide on (The TPU handle will hold it in place or it can be glued).
  • The pommel is attached with a screw.
    • M3 x 30mm Hex X 1
  • Sword blade 1 is attached using CA glue and screws.
    • M3 x 16mm Hex X 1
    • M2 x 5mm Hex X 3
  • Sword blade 2 is attached using CA glue and screws.
    • M2 x 5mm Hex X 4
  • Sword blade 3 is attached using CA glue and screws.
    • M2 x 5mm Hex X 4
  • Sword blade 4 is attached using CA glue and screws.
    • M2 x 5mm Hex X 4

Then it's time for sanding and painting!
