Check Out My Football Traveling Trophy: https://www.printables.com/model/431952-football-traveling-trophy

Features:

  • Can hold up to 15 Award Plates
  • Two basketball size options
  • Net, a little stiff, is free moving
  • Basketball designed to be removable/spin
  • Empty faces can be covered with a large plate
  • Backboard is layer color change supported
  • Peg system should allow for reasonable plate swaps
  • Base could have sand added if more weight is desired
  • Only a little pre-configured supports are needed
  • You can use PrusaSlicer 2.6+ to add text

This was my first large scale 3D model design that I had done in this instance at the request of a coworker for the fantasy basketball league at my work. This took many hours to design and admittedly I wasted a lot of time on getting the net to move “freely” but still be print-in-place (which was honestly fun to trial and error).

All of the models are in the 3mf format with some having custom supports (net, rim, and basketball models) where needed as I tried to minimize the need for any supports. However, the two basketball options have additional slicer tweaks as Fusion was causing me issues when attempting to apply cuts to the mesh. I ended up cheating by using the slicer to do them instead.

This trophy was printed on and designed around the Prusa i3 MK3s and PrusaSlicer. They have not been tried with other printers or slicers.

I tried to make relief notches in the bases peg holes so that they do not sag where they end up being too tight for the pegs but this change was made after the original print and has not been tested so the pegs may need to be tweaked to fit your print.

All models should be printed with at least some infill. The main base is designed as hollow with internal support structures for rigidity. My suggestion would be at least 10% infill especially for the rim piece. I would also recommend no more than 2mm layers. The tolerances can be a little tight but hopefully not too much so depending on your print settings.

The backboard was designed to allow for layer based color change prints.

My hope is that others can find use and enjoyment out of my model.

Happy Printing!
