Description

UPDATE 31.10.2024 - Working DST switching, small simplifications of code, fritzing schematic, clearer and simpler instructions.

--------------------------------------------------------

This is the most complex project I ever made!

It took like 3 months to make, but I think it's awesome.

You can see the live data from it here.

Cost: ≈40€ for the parts (not tools)

Components:

-3x ESP8266 D1 MINI

-3x HTU2X Sensor

-2x BMP280 Sensor

-1x 3.2" TFT Screen

-5x M4x8mm Screw, 1x M4 Nut

-2 AA battery holders

-6 Rechargeable NiMH Batteries

Tools and Materials:

-Soldering Iron

-Solder and Flux

-Wire

-Rubber Seal (2mm diameter)

-CA Glue (Superglue)

-Hot glue gun and Glue Sticks

-3D Printer

-Filament (PLA or PETG)

STEP 1

Unpack all parts and check that they all arrived.

Print all the pieces.

Superglue the seal into its place.

STEP 2

Install Arduino IDE and all needed libraries.

Decide which ESP is the master.

Upload "MACAdress.ino" to it and open the serial monitor.

Write down the mac address that it read.

In both folders there is a “config.h” file.

Open it and customize your station.

Then upload to the ESP.

STEP 3

Connect everything according to the schematics in the zip.

There is a connection between D0 and RST on the outside units. (I forgot about it in the schematics)

STEP 4

Glue everything to its place.

Close it all up.

STEP 5

Plug your main unit in and connect to its Wi-Fi hotspot and configure Wi-Fi password and SSID.

STEP 6

Enjoy!

If you have problems:

  1. Restart the device.
  2. Check wiring.
  3. Re-upload code

If any of these cannot help you, or you have any questions, contact me using Printables messenger.

If anyone wanted a station made and configured from me, I could make a couple stations a month, so message me using Printables messenger.
