Description
UPDATE Kids did not like the look of this, didn't like the “dead” model (whatever that means). I'm working on an update, will post soon.
This is the first (printable version of) an enclosure for a Google AIY kit and a raspberry pi. Not using the button, so no spot for it.
Uses 3 M3 bolts to hold the top of the head on and 4 mounting screws for a pi.
AIY-head2-1b_.stl requires supports, the lid will too.
Hoping to do away this requirement in future versions.
More versions to follow.
Expected features in the next version:
The garbage you don't need to read but it makes me feel better because this thing was a PAIN to make.
I wanted to see if I could hear the speaker ok in a downward orientation, and I wanted to see if it could hear me with the mics positioned near ear holes. So here comes Mark Two.
FAQAWSSA (frequently asked questions with somewhat snarky answers)
Yes. It's name is Mark.
Yes, the wake word I'm using with Rhasspy is Mark.
Yes, the next version will be Mark Three.
Yes, I'm aware that's terrible.
No, there isn't a slot for a power connection.
Yes, I'm working on that.
When I have it working I'll add to this thing with photos of the assembled one I'm currently printing and a basic how-to on github. Right now it's… Sketchy.
The AIY mount comes from the thingiverse model listed, but I'm not sure if there's any of that original geometry left, probably the speaker mount if anything.
Humans are bloody hard to model, so I cheated with photogrammetry of me, and an award statue I got at a yardsale. Then Meshmixer. Then Blender. So. Much. Blender. Eventually I decided I was just done.
Ears. I can't bloody do ears. I could have half assed it, or cheated by doing “robotesque” ears but I was trying to make a basic android head and I needed ears. So I went to thingiverse and grabbed one https://www.thingiverse.com/PrintAlot tossed up in 2014. Thank you.
Also, mouths are hard and this one started life as a photogrammetry scan of my face and got blended and smooths until it no longer really looks like much.
