Description
To fully smarten up your terrarium, this cap replaces the traditional cork cap. It allows for a perfect daily programming of the light cycle that plants require to grow, even in completely dark locations. The smart cap requires an ESP32 with WLED firmware and 2 WS2812b ring LEDs (66 and 38 mm).
The DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor is optional (I need to undestand how to implement it in the WLED project)
A terrarium is a container that is designed to hold and display plants. It is typically made of glass or plastic and can be either open or closed. This project is for the closed type.
Terrariums are popular because they create a miniature ecosystem that can sustain plants and provide a unique display for indoor gardening.
In a closed terrarium, the container is sealed, which creates a self-sustaining environment where the plants can recycle air and moisture. This type of terrarium is ideal for plants that thrive in high humidity, such as ferns and mosses.
Print using PLA, transparent or white PLA for led cover and TPU for the upper cover.
The WLED firmware allows to be managed from a web interface and integration with home automation and Alexa assistant.
Thanks to WLED firmware My light program is:
After just 5 days of this program, the seedlings began to sprout, new leaves and branches grew, and even the condensation cycle of the ecosystem seem improved, thanks to a slight increase in temperature (about 2 degrees Celsius) due to the heat of the LEDs.
This project also makes the terrarium a beautiful household lighting element.
