Description
Owners of the Precision Matthews PM25-MV Milling Machine quickly discover how difficult it is to change tools in the absence of a spindle lock for the R8 spindle. This simple 3d printed part solves that need by making it easy to temporarily hold the spindle from rotating while changing the tool. No modifications are needed to the machine, it's lightweight and plenty strong for the job.
Some reviewers have rightly commented that this is not a technically correct way of loosening or tightening the spindle -- the flats are on a collar that is used to secure the return spring cup. In practice however, unless you overtighten the draw-bar, it should work fine. Your mileage may vary...
