Description
After printing and installing Philipp's excellent Mini-Me hotend duct for my Ender 3 Pro, I wanted to add a fan guard (having already broken a fan blade in the past, I wasn't keen to let it happen again!).
I couldn't find a model that had any sort of fairing between the hotend cooling fan and the parts cooling blower, so I modeled my own.
There's a version that attaches with screws, and a snap-fit version. I'm using the screw-attached version, with an m3x20mm screw in the upper-left corner to secure everything together. There's one factory m3 screw securing the bottom right corner of the fan to the Mini Me (before installation of my fan guard, and therefore not visible because it's on the inside), and one m3 in the upper right corner that's really just for appearances, since there's no corresponding hole in the Mini-Me.
The Snap Fit version should do away with all that, just be sure your fans are well secured before putting the guard on.
Inspired by the Aperture Science logo from Portal and Portal 2. I feel it's an understated homage. Those who know, know!
Print one for yourself. You monster.
I printed mine in PETG at a 0.2mm layer height.
Seems to print best face down (default orientation in the .STL)
I printed with supports (support enforcers only). See the images for the areas to select. I found that Grid supports were easier to remove than organic supports.
