Eibos Easdry Width Extender

Update 17 Feb 2025: I have done a sturdier design V4 for a while now. Made the catch stronger (maybe too strong), added bridges at the 4 corners to reduce the square frame collapsing.

Update 27 Apr 2023:  Removed <Eibos Easdry Extender ABS.3mf> from the files as v2 is the improved version. Added <Eibos Easdry Extender ABS v3.3mf> with a different catch design, previous design is more prone to breaking.

Update 24 Apr 2023: I realised <Eibos Easedry Extender ABS.3mf> model had overhangs as I overlooked the chamfer part when I enlarged it slightly, did a slight design change to remove the overhang <Eibos Easdry Extender ABS v2.3mf>. 

Update 9 Apr 2023: Added another version that is slightly larger to account for the shrinkage when printing with ABS. 

Added a catch design to release the extender together with the cover, since I always found it hard to take off the cover, and my pull tag came off. 

First model was printed with PLA and works well but might soften if set to high temperature. Printed with ABS and realized the ABS shrinkage caused the door to not fit well.

This design should increase the allowable spool width by 15mm, however installing <Eibos Easdry Extender Core.3mf>, it will reduce it to 12mm.

Use <Eibos Easedry Extender.3mf> for a tighter fit.

For <Eibos Easdry Extender ABS v3.3mf>, the shorter bits holding the catch can be broken when pushing the catch to unlock position, don't be alarmed if it is broken, it is designed to be temporary support while printing.

<Eibos Easdy Extender Core.3mf> is optional attachment to stabilize the spool as I noticed it tends to slide towards the cover side, (probably because it is dropping into the open end of the core) So far did not experience any trouble with that so this part is a good to have.

I have only started using it when I first released this design, there might be more issues that occur after using it for a while. I will update the design if I experience issues during my use.

Currently this width extension is adequate for my use as I only need a few mm wider to fit my fattest spools. However, if you need even wider extension, let me know how many mm more is required and I will create a new 3D model when I am able to.
