Bookends don't have to be outdated! Stylin' and Angle Profiling Wooooooooo!
AngleEnds - I would use for smaller books
AngleEndsSupportLeg - has a 1mm "front plate" to allow for the books weight to stabilize
I really like this design and can see it used for other things like holding napkins on the dining table!
