Description
Here you will find really basic alignment tool for 2020 profile with the MGN9 & MGN12 linear rails. Proper alignment of linear rails especially on a 3d printer is VITAL to help give your 3d printer the best chance of both working & working accurately.
I only had access to V-Slot profile cheaply (double the price in the UK for 200mm T-slot 2020 vs V-slot currently what is that about?) & I really wanted to make a custom printer design I like, hence THIS.
Printing advice:
You need to PRINT A PAIR of these 1 for each side of the rail to hold it straight whilst you fit some bolts into the T nuts that you fit into the aluminum extrusion and tighten gently.
There is 2 versions available for both the MGN9 or MGN12 rail alignment tool.
v1.1 - Has a little room to make it easier to fit and take away works really well and is quick and easy to use.
SNUG - As in EXACTLY on the nail, if your printer is dialed in to the silly degree or you just wanna try it and get annoyed with me later feel free to give it a go but it LITERALLY gives zero room for movement so it should be a VERY tight albeit precise fit.
I recommend the v.1.1 for obvious reasons.
I would recommend you make sure your dimensional accuracy is good with a cube 1st and adjust e-steps accordingly (if you haven't already or its a new printer etc), though as long as the X & Y are good, you won't have issues re Z.
Infill 20% is more than fine, its not a structural part its just a tool, less if you can get away with it works fine too.
Infill pattern: Grid works well, nice and basic and all round strength.
Resolution: 0.2 recommended but again not too important if you print it on it's side (as it is in the STL).
Supports: NO
Material: ANY
