Description
This is a wall mount for the AC Infinity Cloud Controller 69. It mounts in the wall just like an electrical old work box. It uses magnets and some posts to securely attach the controller to your wall and provide a fairly slick and finished look.
Bits and Bobs
You will need two 3x12mm neodymium magnets to lock the cloud controller to the plate. They just press fit into the two holes. You will also need to print qty 2 of the below model for the “flippers” and two 1 ½ or 2 inch #6 sheet metal screws for said flippers. I was able to pick the magnets and screws up at my local home improvement store.
Printing
I just printed the model on its back and used supports. I used the .2mm strength profile in Bambu Studio printing with PETG and its quite strong. I printed the flippers in PETG with the same layer heights. I ran out of matte PETG right before printing and wound up printing in a black PETG that comes out shiny. I may print it out of a more matte material in the future but its ok. ABS or another fancier plastic may work better. I tried some of the PA-CF that came with my printer and while it looked better in some ways, it clumped around the “knobs” that the unit hangs on pretty badly and there were flaws on the edge of the model where it tapers front to back.
Assembly/Install
To use, first mount the magnets to the box. Be careful to determine which polarity sticks to the back of the controller. Hint: on at least my controller the two internal magnets are oposing polarity so the magnets in the plate will “face” different directions. My magnets were precisely 12mm in diameter, My X1C is fairly new and pretty dead on accurate dimensionally so they were a firm press fit for me. You may need to sand the hole or add a drop of ca glue to tighten up the opening if your magnets are slightly different sizes or if your extrusion is a touch under or over. Next, insert the screws into the holes and thread them into the flippers. I put a few turns in with a screwdriver so I wouldn't be worried the flippers would get knocked into the wall.
Then, cut a hole in your wall matching the back of the box, fish the wires for your AC infinity ventilation hardware into the hole and into the box. The USB C wire on my cloudline was long enough but the temp and humidity probe was short. I spliced the wire to extend but a 4 conductor 1.5mm extension would probably work. I probably added 10 feet in the form of cat 5e wire I had laying around. Then insert the box and tighten screws the same way you would an electrical box. Connect the wires to the cloudline and click it to the wall via the mysterious and universally satisfying elemental force of magnetism.
Et voila! You now have a snazzy wall mounted ventilation controller for your equipment closet or whatever you want to cool/ventilate.
Finally, I did this in fusion 360. If anyone wants to use the model for some other purpose, just hit me up and I would be glad to share.
