Description
OK, so I was about to design a new corer for strawberries as my old one simply fell apart a few days ago…While browsing for the inspiration I found this incredibly nice and well designed handle for an exacto knife (for most of you, that one will be probably more useful so I recommend to go and print that immediately.:-)) But I recognized right away that it would be a waste of time to design something from scratch, when I was looking at the perfect thing. So, I remixed the model, keeping the original design exactly.
While it could easily be a single piece, I wanted a replaceable tip and a soft handle, more pro-like qualities, if you will. So here is the design. If you think about printing soft handle too, you probably already know how tricky TPU can be, so you're going to need to finetune that model by your material of choice. Also, as edges of the prints tend to be slightly rounded, I recommend to file the spoon part to have sharp edges. I used a small file and a high grid sandpaper to polish a bit: while sharp enough before, now it cuts fruit like crazy.
It could be quite tricky to slip the grip to the right spot. You can help yourself with a bit of dish soap to make it more slippery, and when a piece of a thread peeks out of the grip, you can start screwing it into a handle and it gets pushed into its place nicely.
As amc6020 published his excellent design as a step file, I do the same, of course. If you want, you can use that to fuse the parts together and to print as one piece. Sliced with PS2.6 for Mini, thread sizing is already done in the model, and a few small touches in settings to get the best quality possible.
