Prusa MK4 Nextruder gear window from original design

Since the original gear cover of the nextruder has a washer to hold the gearbox in place, I created a window using the original design. If you want a bigger window check out my other design:

Installation: 

To install the clear 0,3mm coverboard into the print, just pause the printer right before it is printing over the coverboard gap. Insert the window (I provided two versions, one is easier to cut out with a bigger window). 

Fix the window into position with some drops of hot glue. Don't use to much, otherwise it will get messy. (You can easily remove the hot glue on the printbed with some isopropanol alcohol)

Watch the printer as it prints over the window and make sure it does not pull the window out of position with the nozzle. Let the print finish and you are done! 

Some additional notes:

There are basically two versions, one where only the front is removed and it has a round window, with or without a center section, and one with a slightly larger window that is easier to cut out and with or without a center section. Text could be added in the center sections. 

This technique works with PLA and PETG. Here PETG is recommended!

When printing with PETG make sure to lower your bed temperature (70 degree), otherwise your window may warp due to the heat and that makes the installation process harder. 

I have found that the PETG adheres better to the window when it is also slightly warm. You could put it on the heat bed at the beginning of printing.
