Description
Reloadable master spool with 90mm center hub and 60mm flange spacing.
This spool design appealed to me because it was threaded and used less filament than other reloadable spool designs I saw. When I printed it out as-is, I discovered that it had a non-standard hub diameter and non-standard width between the spool flanges.
The filament spool standard that Inland uses is 90mm hub and 60mm flange spacing.
I used Blender to scale up the hubs to a diameter of 90mm and changed the height of the hubs so that the 2 assembled halves would have a flange spacing of 60mm between the inner surfaces. The final assembled parts ended up being about 58mm between the inner surfaces.
I tweaked the GCODE in the PrusaSlicer to make the hub sections hollow (0% infill). With the MK3S printer, doing this shaves 45 minutes off the female-threaded half, and 90 minutes off the male-threaded half. I have included the 3mf files with the hollow sections.
With the modifications, these spools have worked well for loading up Inland spooless filament. One suble feature of these spools is that they have many holes to secure the loose end of the filament every few inches! There is almost ALWAYS a hole that lines up to park your filament loose end in. :)
