Wine Cork Trivet

Have you been saving your wine corks and don't know what to do with them...How about a trivet to set hot dishes and pans on?

The base is a bunch of holes to put half cut corks in. The holes have little barbs to try to hold the corks from coming out.

Though most (non-sparkling) wine corks are 20mm thick, their length varies a lot. In order to have an even top, use the cork cutter to slice all the same size. It has been sized for my small razor saw (0.25mm), so adjust the model as necessary for your own cutting tool. You can often use both sides of the cork unless they are too short.

If you have a delicate finish on your table, consider setting up a filament change in your slicer and do the first 3 layers in TPU or some other flexible filament, then do the rest in PLA.

There is a hole to hang the trivet on a nail. Be sure to gouge out the center of the cork that is placed there.

While some corks will go in fine, others will be tight. To get it to go in you may grab some pliers that have a pipe grip or other round opening and use that to gently squeeze the air out of the cork to get it in the trivet base.
