Description

The Ecovacs Goat G1 needs transmitters/beacons to navigate around. Usually they include stands and a dirt screw to put them in the grass. However they need a lot of space around them to properly function, but my garden has quite a lot of stuff in it (trees, bushes, sheds) so they would interfere with the beacons.

So I decided to mount them on two sheds, but the included stand wasn't really optimal for this, so I designed some to 3d print.

It can be found on onshape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9039d040aed59cb5896eb182/

Printing

Generally PETG is preferred over PLA for outdoor use due to its longer durability in sun and weather. However I didn't had any issues with larger outdoor parts out of PLA in the last years.

I printed everything with 0.4mm layers and a 0.6mm nozzle.

holder_with_base

With this model you can mount the beacon including its base so it will be taller than without the base. Just remove base plate with the dirt screw by unscrewing the three screws. Then use the screws to attach the wall mount in the same place.

The beacon with base is quite top heavy so with the long lever there are quite big forces on the holder. So mount it securely, use enough infill for good stability or use the holder without base if you don't need the extra height.

Print it with the square part down (see picture for print orientation). Use supports on the print bed only.

holder_with_base_no_hexagon

Same as the holder_with_base just without the hexagonal part on top, it reduces the rigidity between holder and beacon, but it is a bit less to print and needs less support material. You can also print that with the round part down (see picture for print orientation).

holder_without_base

This model fits the beacon directly, so it will be a bit lower/shorter compared to the other holders. Stick the beacon into the mount and turn it clockwise to tighten it.

I printed it without support material, there might be some hanging strings from the overhangs, which can be easily removed.
