Description

Prusa Mini+ Hot Bed Guard Rail makes life a bit easier to avoid putting objects in the space of the moving hot bed, especially if you have rotated printed as on the photos.

Please give a like and post makes and provide comments for further improvements.

Notice that this works well only for the ‘front’ side of the Prusa printer, which is the direction in which originally mounted LCD display is facing (this is on the ‘right’ on the photos/videos).
For ‘back’ side of the printer (edge with hot bed cable attachment) it would require to extend over the hot bed attachment (I guess it needs about extra 20mm, haven't tried it).

Overall it will wobble a bit because it is just a reminder not to put stuff in there, and not to withstand brutal force.
Why no screws? I wanted to make it easier to disassemble if needed, so double-sided adhesive tape helps in keeping it together but not to break it if too much force is applied (for example when lifting a printer).

Dimensions:

  • rail: 240x10x2mm
  • mount
    • short vertical pole: 40x10x4mm
    • long vertical pole: 80x10x4mm
    • internal distance between poles: 55mm
    • external distance between poles: 63mm

Print: PETG 0.20mm Speed, no supports, no brim, no skirt (otherwise it may not fit in the bed dimensions.

Assembly:

  • Make sure that bed is cooled down
  • Get some two-sided adhesive 1mm tape and use it to assemble parts.
  • Cut elements if needed
