Description

An air assist nozzle that can slide onto the 10W Snapmaker Laser Module .

Designed to fit 5mm vinyl tubing and connector fitting. The model as uploaded suits a connector fitting with an outside diameter of 5.5mm and a length of 18mm. Feel free to tweak the hose_fitting_diameter and hose_fitting_length variables in the Onshape Document if you require it.

An optional M5 Threaded Hole is available if you need it. It tightens onto the inner wall of the clamp, so that the screw does not scratch the mounting surface of the laser module.

The demonstration image was completed with the compressors pressure regulator set to only 15 PSI. I'm sure this would happily run with an Air Pump, if you need more air volume at a lower pressure you can tweak the nozzle_diameter variable in the Onshape Document.

Warnings:

This nozzle is NOT compatible with calibration and thickness measurements that require the laser module to touch off against the work surface.

Also note that your Z clearance will be decreased due to the nozzle protrusion.

Print Recommendations:

Important - Print in PLA so that the connector fitting can be press fit after the model is heated in hot water.

Print with Fine details so the 2mm nozzle comes out nicely.


Installation Instructions:

It is recommended that you read through these instructions first. There are a few important hints that will help you to not deform the model.

  1. Print the model in PLA
  2. When print is completed, get your 5mm connector fitting ready.
  3. Place the model in hot water for about 15 seconds.
  4. Remove model from the hot water with tweezers
  5. Use your thumb to brace the model just beneath the nozzle
  6. Firmly press the connector fitting into the hole
  7. Test fit the model onto the Laser Module, if it doesn't fit, heat it again in the hot water and then press fit it onto the Laser Module. Ensure that you push on the outer ring and not on the connector fitting.
  8. Optionally fit the M5 screw, do not over tighten.
