My setup:
- 3x5 mm IR transmitting LED
- Power supply voltage: 5 V
- LED voltage drop: 1.3 V
- LED current: 50 mA
- 22 Ohm resistor
Assembly guide:
- Print a model
- Do some calculations. Using this LED array calculator I found that my setup requires a 22 Ohm resistor
- Solder everything according to the calculator's scheme
- Increase the infrared beam angle by filing each LED lens almost to the metal part. I used Dremel and 400-grade sandpaper for the matte finish
- Set LEDs into places. No glue is required. But you may use a drop of hot glue for each LED
- Attach the clip to the glasses with cable ties. I also used a heat shrink tube underlay to prevent scratches
- Set the model dimensions in your head tracking software as in the last photo
- All done!
