Description
These are some of the final designs for team 2960's 2023 FRC robot. Included are the original Wheel Cad, Mold, and bearing hub and the second concave design's mold, wheel cad, and bearing hub.
V2 has a wider bearing core, is slimmer, and is concave compared to V1 Which has a flat profile, is thick, and will bend more due to the lack of outer support.
I printed the molds out of pla on my Prusa and the bearing hubs out of Onyx on our mark forged printers.
Once you have all of the parts, pour the two-part polyurethane mix into the molds until they're about halfway full, then insert your bearing hubs into the mold and spin them around to eliminate bubbles. Now complete the pouring process.
Once all the molds are poured, you leave them out overnight for them to cure (refer to your buyer's manual for cure times) You can also place the molds in an oven to accelerate the process.
Please share your makes and ask any questions you have! This was a very fun project to make and it held up pretty well at all of our competitions.
