This is my little remix of Dave_C's Project Microlongrange, a lightweight 4 inch quadrocopter that is supposed to fly for quite a while on 4 inch props. Here's what i changed:
- i wanted to fly 4S and i have no trust in 16mm stacks when it comes to 4S, so this version has mounting holes for two 20mm stacks
- i also don't like M2 hardware for anything that goes beyond toothpick weight. So i made the center standoffs M3
- i think i found a rather creative way install the TBS Crossfire Nano RX, securing the ufl connector and minimizing any interference with the VTX
- added a fixed angle mount for the runcam hybrid that might be able to hold a caddx ND-Filter with a little bit of adjustment to the filter
- a backpack that holds a proper gps unit and puts VTX and RX antennas as far as possible into the air
- designed a lipo pad that can be ordered at http://www.copterfarm.de using the DXF
If you live in germany or europe you can get the carbon cnc'd for around 30€ at http://www.smartshapes.de or http://www.ahltech.de, both excellent choices. For the center standoffs i used the really sturdy aluminium hex standoffs that youtuber moosestang once recommended. You can get them at http://www.leichteschrauben.de.
My build flies amazingly well and effcient has this hardware:
- BetaFPV 1505 3600kV (perfect motors for the weight and prop)
- HQProp 4x2.5 biblades (very nice props, will also try the 4x2x3 from HQProp)
- Heli-Nation Talon F7 Mini FC (any good quality 20mm FC will do)
- Spedix IS25 ESC (i use this one with JESC to enable RPM Filters, but any other 20mm ESC 20+A will do)
- TBS Crossfire Nano RX (no alternative there really!?)
- Rush Tank Mini VTX (the absolute best 20mm VTX!!!)
- Runcam Hybrid 4k+FPV Cam (Could also go Caddx Tarsier or Caddx Vista/Nebula)
- Drotek DP0401 or Matek SAM-M8Q as GPS unit
As for the build:
The flight controller and the Runcam Hybrid PCB are the front stack, while ESC and VTX go into the back. The crossfire nano is tucked away below the ESC in the carbon cutout in its tpu sleeve.
