A harmless flip comb to take to elementary school. Everyone wants one! Most folks like showing off there skills flipping them around. Some are better at it than others of course as it does take skill.
This design has locking latch at the bottom of the handle, and a center locking pin and two notches in the handle so it doesnt lose its shape. The comb pins are also strong.
Supports are not needed because the printer can bridge the gaps on the handles, but I did paint on supports in the 3mf for the holes to ensure the screw head can make it past into the recess, but even these are not needed.
Hardware required:
- 2x m10 hex bolts and 2x hex (nylon lock preferred) nuts for the comb.
Optional hardware:
- 1x m10 hex bolt and 1x hex (nylon lock preferred) nut for the latch at the end of the handle
- 1x m16 hex bolt and 1x hex (nylon lock preferred) nut for the center lock pin to prevent the comb wiggling
Other improvements:
- The gcode and 3mf is now optimized to print quickly. It is a .6 nozzle with a .3 layer height, which you can just print with a .4 nozzle even.
- I added some paint on supports to the screw holes since sometimes these are too tight to recess the screw head, so supports should fix that issue with those holes.
- The 3mf prints two combs parts at once since they are a quick 20 minute print for each one. So if you only want to print one you can remove a comb here and save 20 minutes of print time!
- I also made the comb a bit thinner by .4mm and chamfered on both sides so it slides into the handle better.
- After print, a suggestion is to slightly deform the handle open slot to make it a bit wider using some small pliers jammed into it for a minute. The blade will then go more easily into the slot.
