Description
This model is inspired from Minecraft and can a great addition to your child's nightstand (or yours) to keep the mobs from spawning nearby.
Best of all there is no wiring necessary! Simply insert a button-back flashlight into the torch and press down on the top to turn it on and off. EZ PZ…
Don't take my word for it though, you can find out how well it works for yourself. There are only two printed pieces that can be done without supports. Pick some colors that suit you and have a piece of functional art that is sure to raise attention. It's portable too, just grab and go to light your way at night!
Materials I used:
Torch Base - Polymaker 3D - Wood Brown PLA
Torch Head - Sunlu - Transparent PLA
Infill and Walls:
Torch Head - 1mm wall thickness & 3% gyroid infill
Torch Base - (Whatever your preference)
Here is a link to the flashlight used from Harbor Freight:
2 Piece 3-1/2 in. LED Mini Flashlight (harborfreight.com)
Mine were literally out of the junk drawer… an older design. I haven't tested the new ones yet but they look identical with maybe some upgraded LED's is all… This idea would work with any button back flashlight, maybe a remix for other flashlights?
One thing I did notice was that different flashlights (although the same?) had different distances the button stuck out on the back, raising the flashlight. Included in the models are two different Torch Heads. One for if the flashlight sticks out 3/8 inch [~10mm] and one for if it sticks out 1/2 inch [12mm]. See pic below for reference:
I thought about using some marker to color the outside a bit to make it look more aged, but wanted to post it in it's raw form (maybe an update later). Feel free to color or paint the outside to give it an authentic look. I'd love to see what anyone comes up with!
