UPDATE 12/01/2024: I added a new parameter - walls_lid, so that you can make the walls of the box thinner without breaking the lid generation. The minimum is 6mm, though. I have uploaded the fixed Fusion 360 file: parametric_display_box FIXED + walls_lid

UPDATE 8/29/2023: I had a bug in the calculations, which lead to wrong lid generation. I have uploaded the fixed Fusion 360 file: parametric_display_box FIXED

I love my father's hobby of making miniature ships, so I created this fully parametric box with a glass front to showcase his amazing work.

You can customize almost every dimension of the box to fit your needs. Just change the parameters in Fusion 360, and you're good to go. There is also a parameter for the tolerance, which you can adjust depending on your printer's accuracy. The default value is 0.1, but feel free to experiment. The glassD parameter sets the thickness of the glass/acrylic/plexiglass that you will insert in the slot of the lid.

The box comes in two versions - one with a small handle and one without it. The only parts that differ are lid_top and handle. The handle version has a cutout that lets you glue it to the glass (I used plexiglass), which makes it easier to remove the glass if needed. I also think it adds a nice touch to the box :) But you can choose whichever version you like.

I hope you enjoy this design and I would love to see your prints and feedback.
