Description
This is my first attempt at a grip/holder for the Miyoo Mini Plus game system. It works well enough straight off the printer that I thought I should share it and perhaps later make a version 2 after I've lived with the grip for a while. The game system slides into place, and there is a ‘catch’ on the back that gives a little extra security. The speaker, buttons/controls and bottom ports are unobstructed.Â
Rather than make the grip also be a stand (which would be top/heavy and unstable), I also made a stand that the grip fits perfectly into. The stand gives good stability and additional vertical height/clearance so the unit can be left charging with a standard USB-C cable.
I took pictures of the Miyoo Mini Plus from every angle and used them as canvases in Fusion 360, so that I could basically capture the case profile exactly.
I chose PETG for its flexibility/durability and heat resistance, but this grip could just as easily be printed in PLA (or maybe even TPU?). I chose conservative speed settings on my particular G-code, because I cared more about quality than speed. It is a snug fit and was a little difficult to take on/off the Miyoo Mini Plus initially, but it has loosened up over a few uses to be about right I think. But you can fine-tune the scale for your particular taste. The grip was printed ‘upright’ as shown with the large flats on the bottom allowing a good first layer base. The only support material requires is under the flat area under/around the Miyoo bottom ports, but this was a good compromise to have all other surfaces be pristine. The Stand is printed without supports, and I skipped the brim as it had no issue adhering to the build plate.
Enjoy!
