Description
I designed this tray to help with the removal of duckweed from a fish tank. I had an issue with some plants that brought in a plantlet of duckweed with them which as you may be aware can run away quickly. The plants I have (as seen in the pictures) are floating plants and I needed a way to separate the duckweed from them. You place the tray on top of your floating plants, gently submerge them, then jiggle the tray side to side or up and down. The duckweed should mostly release from your plants and float into the tray. Once the duckweed is in the tray, you can scoop it out with a net without dragging in the larger plants.
The model I have uploaded is version 4 of the duckweed removal tray. I printed this model at a 0.48mm-layer height with a 0.6mm nozzle on a Prusa I3 Mk2. Infill can be set to 10% however, this will have solid walls with 3 perimeters. The only part requiring support is the handles at the end of the tray, I may iterate on this design to strengthen the ends and make it printable without supports but that's for a future version that I'm not currently working on.
