Are you new to Black Crow Prints? All the STL files are here free on Printables.com. A non printed parts list is below along with easy step by step assembly videos. Help is available, usually within 24hrs. You can contact me thru private message or comments on the makes and comments tab. File updates are always listed at the bottom of each description page. Ways you can help: Let me know when I make a mistake. Share your builds with friends on social media and subscribe to my YouTube channel. If you would like to help me provide these models free to others you can become a “My Club” member. No obligation implied and you will get no special treatment from me other than my appreciation. .. Now go build an adventure.

Before building please read carefully. This model has options. In an attempt to keep things simple the motor/transmission build options are in a separate listing. Build this chassis, pick your motor/transmission setup. Then combined or swap out Motor/transmissions. Most parts are numbered in order of use. Part files are in proper orientation to print.

Now, I am proud to introduce the Morrigan. The Morrigan is a 1:8 scale early era rock bouncer. These rock bouncers were minimalistic in design, only including what was needed - (Lots of power, Axles, Big Tires and a safe place for the driver) This combination paired with a heavy foot gave these vehicles their name, “Rock Bouncers” This model is very close in design to the real thing. The open design allows for the use of your choice of tires up to 137mm. Scale puts the 130mm tires at the standard 40" and the 137mm tires at 44". While this is a “bouncer” known more as a basher than a crawler it uses the same transmission motor sets as the crawler. It can crawl. Here is a real bouncer in action.
New to this model: The axles have been reinforced to take more abuse using the build, break and improve method. This model was designed to take more abuse. The transmission gear sets have been improved and updated for both this model and Thumper.
While I appreciate the “fully 3D printed” models put out by others, I tend to be a bit more utilitarian. This model uses RC hobby standard metal axle gears and drive shafts. The transmissions use an amazingly strong belt system that is very quit. The motor/transmission sets are easily removed and swapped. The battery is easily removed for quick charging. This model uses a 2S 7.4 volt shorty Lipo battery
My previous model, “Thumper” turned out stronger and more capable than I expected. Thumper could take a tumble off rocks and easily be carried around by it's roll bars. With this build I wanted something even stronger and more capable. The next step was to reduce the constraints and build a rock bouncer. You might ask why some of the screws in this model are so long. One of the weak point in 3D printed models is the layer adhesion. Some of the longer screws hold the layers together while others spread the stress over a larger area. This model was designed to be used. If you just want something to look at you can use shorter screws.

Motor Transmission Options
You have a wide verity of options when it comes to motor transmission setups. First choose from printed gears or metal gears.
3D printed gear transmissions here: https://www.printables.com/model/356820-thumpers-and-morrigans-transmission-shop-for-18-sc
The 3D printed gears work very well unless you stay in the throttle for an extended period of time or use high rpm motors.
Metal gear transmissions here: https://www.printables.com/model/769045-thumper-and-morrigan-cheater-metal-gear-transmissi
The metal gears are better for people that push the limits. This is the better choice for 540 motors. The Fusion SE 1,200kv is awesome! This is also better if experimenting with 3S batteries.

***Advanced Parts by starfalk*** This includes a longer front that looks better and accepts a 540 550 motor. The 540 and 550 motors are not for everyone but it is a very nice option to have. (Keep in mind high RPM motors can create more friction and more problems.) Other great stuff here too check it out before you build. https://www.printables.com/de/model/670103-540-550-fusionse-and-remixed-parts-for-morrigan-by/files

Next you have the option of four wheel steer or standard front steer only.

Supports:
No supports needed EVER! Supports are built into the Model.
(Because of the built in supports and fine detailed areas a 0.4 nozzle or Adaptive slicer must be used)
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Printer Settings:
0.4 nozzle (no bigger because of built in supports)
.2 layer Hight (no bigger)
*** Outer walls 4 layers thick***
Infill: 15% -25% I have found that more outer layers is stronger than than increased infill and 100% infill can exaggerate over extrusion problems)

Special settings for radiator:
Infill: Rectilinear 30%
Layers top 0
Layers bottom 0

Filament:
Models are designed around the use of a strong PLA. For best results use Prusa PLA, Inland Plus, CC3D Max, ( Hatchbox PLA does not test well with my models)
Warping - Prusa printers with PLA plus - adjust bed temp to 65 degrees.
Creality printers with PLA plus - adjust bed to 60 - 65 degrees.

2.2 inch center 130mm to 137mm outer diameter. ( The 1.9inch 120mm tires used on the Thumper model will also work. They will just be slightly smaller)
Shocks: 120mm - The internal spring shocks work best. The external spring shocks should also work, however I have not tested them on this model. (Note: Originally posted as 130mm shocks, The 130mm Shocks were marked as 130mm yet measured 125mm and are now very hard to find. I have been using 120mm with unnoticeable difference) https://amzn.to/3UeZH6I

Prusa and Bambu printers usually print this model without any problems. Other printers might need to be dialed in. I picked this video because it explains all of the horizontal expansion settings. The important setting is horizontal hole expansion. In most cases you will need to set to -0.1 to -0.3
