Another (re)mix of CaseStudyno8s (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1735267) and 3DPRINTINGWORLD (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3606120)s designs to create my own Darth Revan's collapsing lightsaber. So I remodeled the whole thing to fit the collapsible blade. Multiple parts were put together so it is less about gluing and more about layer color changes within the print. The Blade is also remodeled. It has a steeper angle, so it is not so thin at the end which also helped the blade to be longer and broader. Plus the tip curve fits better.

The big help should be the attached 3mf files, those will show you how I meant everything. Primarily supports and color changes. See the photos from the slicer to get the idea.

Layer color change heights:

  • Chamber - 11.5mm from the bottom
  • Emitter and emitter parts - height where it goes from thick to thin + 6mm form the top

Everything should snap or go together pretty simply or snugly enough. Some parts need to be glued together.

Brim and support for the Emitter are recommended. Try to follow the way the parts of the lightsaber line up.

The hilt has a new lock mechanism, it needs to be tested to ensure that it works!

I will print it soon to find any tolerance issues (mainly blade, pommel thread), and so on and I will keep the whole thing updated.

Download, print, and enjoy! :)

3D printing settings

Many parts are supportless designs, but some parts require support or even a brim (long tall parts). Follow the 3mf files.

The hilt (PLA):
layer height: 0.125
infill: 10%-20% (20% for small parts)
perimeters: 2
supports: if needed
brim: if needed

vase mode: on
supports: off
brim: on, 5mm
