Flat Pocket Whistle

About the Whistle:

With a thickness of only 3 mm, the flat whistle fits in any wallet. Despite its flat design, it's really loud. It is also possible to wear the whistle as a chain or attach it to a keychain.

Sound:

It has a clear double tone. Due to the size, the sound is quite high. But it is enough to get attention. An audio sample is attached.

Print time:

~ 6 - 20 min (depending on your settings)

Dimensions:

• Whistle Version 1: 43 x 22 x 3 mm 
• Whistle Version 2: 43 x 22 x 4 mm
• Whistle Version 3: 43 x 22 x 5 mm
• Whistle Version 4: 39 x 11.5 x 3 mm

How to Print:

I recommend using a nozzle size of 0.4 mm, a layer height of ≤ 0.2 mm and a perimeter value of 2. Don't use supports! It's very important that the first layer is perfect, because the wall thickness at the top and bottom is only 0.6 mm. If your printer is well leveled, however, there should be no problems.

Troubleshooting:

If your whistle doesn't work properly or you have problems printing a smooth top surface, make sure the layer height is set to ≤ 0.2 mm. This ensures that the bottom and top surfaces are printed at the correct thickness. You can also experiment with the perimeter value if there are problems with bridging. But a perimeter value of 2 is recommended! And last but not least, the solid top/bottom layer should be set to at minimum 5 each.

Even after a year and a half, I'm still trying to optimize the whistles. That's why I've reorganized the download section a bit. There is now a folder called BETA 2025. The BETA 2025 folder contains all four newly revised whistles. They should now be louder and more responsive and bridging should also work better. I have still classified them as BETA to get your feedback first. The old versions of the Flat Pocket Whistles will of course be retained and can be found under the name Version 2023 in the future.

Update History:

(2024-03-29) - A new whistle has been added. A very small version based on the original design of the others. It requires approx. 1g filament and 3 to 5 minutes to print. Of course it's not the loudest, but it is the cutest.

(2023-07-05) - Uploaded an optional 5mm version of the whistle. The sound is a bit less brilliant, because the cavities have almost twice as much volume. But that's also why it's the loudest of all flat pocket whistles.

(2023-06-21) - After some feedback, I updated the 4 mm whistle. The bar for the keychain attachment has become slightly thicker. It looks more balanced and increases stability. The old version remains for those who prefer the thinner bar.

(2023-06-07) - Uploaded an optional 4 mm version of the whistle for those who like it thicker and even a bit louder. To maintain the comfort, I added a bevel.
